Description

TAID is a device based on the active Tag technology. It operates in a radiofrequency ISM band with a long communication range. Its size can vary depending on the configuration of the various sensors it can contain. This configuration allows it to execute the control and traceability of objects depending on several variables. TAID gets a high protection rating and a long power life. 

TAID has a doubled operation mode: in a direct communication with a server (through an Acces Point), it can carry out operations such as inventories in real time or readings on-time of registered variables. In an off-line mode, TAID can register internally data from the desired variable (such as temperature, brighting, etc.). Then, once the communication with the server is established, this information can be downloaded via radiofrequency.

Applications

As already said, TAID has a double operation mode: in an on-line communication with a server through an Access Point or as an independent device for registering and recording data. In the first mode has, furthermore, other two uses with short or long range communications. With short range communications is used to locate and read the device in fixed points and with long range communications is used for traceability of TAID in transit, automatic inventories, etc. Some of the applications are:

• Remote identification.
• Real time inventory.
• Traceability.
• Robbery detection.
• Data capture and registration according to peripherals included: temperature, acceleration, humidity, etc.
• Position, routes and itineraries registration.
• Acces control, count and identification of people, animals, etc.

Characteristics

• TAID is a device that operates in an ISM radiofrequency band.
• Size and shape of TAID can vary depending on the peripherals to be added. The frame can, this way, be different.
• TAID is certified to meet IP68, standards for inmersion and corrosion resistance.
• Thanks to the internal battery, TAID power life can vary, depending on the use, from 5 to 10 years.
• TAID is rarely affected by water or metal so it could reach a communication range of above 300 meters thanks to its internal battery and radio antenna.
• The microprocessor informs the user about the battery state, it selects the power and frequency of the radio and records in the memory the data registered by TAID.

Components

TAID is composed by the following elements:

• Internal or external radio antenna for the transfer of information via ISM radiofrequency band.
• Litium battery (internal feeding) that allows communications inside a 300 meters range and a power life of 5 to 10 years (depending on the use).
• Ultra low comsuption microprocessor that manages all the TAID operations (radio, data storage and power).
• Customized periferals depending on the necessities.

Together with the own TAID components, we can mention the Access Point that will receive the information registered by the device to transfer it to the central server. This Access Point can be connected to the server via USB, Ethernet or Bluetooth.

Several peripherals can be added to TAID depending on the client necessities:

• Temperature sensor. Precision from +- 0.5ºC to +- 0.06ºC.
• Acceleration sensor (3D accelerometer).
• Light sensor.
• Indicative LEDs.
• GPS receiver.
• Humidity sensor.
• Recorder memory.
• Real time clock.
