PRODIMAR, together with Via Business Solutions, has presented the new system based on Active Tags for the control of temperatures of perishable goods in transit - Dec 2010

Last 15th of December, VIA BUSINESS SOLUTIONS, a PRODIMAR distributor, presented in the fish market of La Coruña (the most important in Spain) a completed solution that includes a new system based on Active Tags developed by PRODIMAR for the control and traceability of the temperature of perishable goods (fish and seafood) in transit.

The event was organized by ASOCEXPECO (Fish and Seafood Exporter Wholesaler Association from La Coruña), and the presentation was a part of its annual assembly.

As speakers in the presentation, Jose Manuel Vicos (Sales Manager for Via Business Solutions), Javier Marque (General Manager for PRODIMAR) and Alberto Márquez (Sales Responsible for PRODIMAR). The main fish and seafood export companies in Spain were represented in the presentation, together with people responsible for companies of other sectors.

A whole solution composed by three parts was presented in the meeting:  1- a system for keeping frozen perishable goods (consisting of a high durability and returnable polymer), 2- control and information about the temperature in transit for perishable goods (thanks to the Active Tags from PRODIMAR) and 3- an application for the reading of the temperature registered in the active devices

868 Active Tag from PRODIMAR presented in ASOCEXPECO, is an active device with a long durability battery that operates in a radiofrequency band with an IP68 standard resistance. Several peripherals can be added to the device (there are, therefore, several application fields or sectors), being the temperature sensor determinant in the system of control for perishable goods. The temperature sensor operates between -40 and 80 ºC and it has a precision of 0,5 ºC. The device contains an internal memory for the registration of the data read by the Tag. Once the goods are in destiny, this memory is read through the radiofrequency band with an access point.

Alberto Márquez, Sales Responsible for PRODIMAR, says: “We find here a very innovative technology developed 100% by PRODIMAR, with a big range of possible configuration allowed by the device and several sectors of application. This fact, together with the constant changes in the market, the increase of demands by the clients and a harder legislation guarantees the success of this technology”.
